Advocacy efforts in D.C. afford CSSA student leaders an opportunity to learn about higher education issues affecting CSU students at the federal level, receive training and experience advocating, and develop effective leadership skills. Most importantly, it ensures that the CSU’s advocacy efforts benefit from the inclusion of student perspectives, stories, and achievements. Recent advocacy issues include, but are not limited to, student loan interest rates, loan repayment options and education, Pell Grants, Gear Up and Trio, and the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals Act (DACA).
